Anticipating the return to normal activity: the employer's safety obligations

Since the beginning of the epidemic crisis and the introduction of lockdown by the government, many of you have had to reduce or even temporarily stop your activity due to a drop in activity and/or health risk and in the absence of the possibility of teleworking for your employees. Over the next few weeks, some of you may have to gradually or completely resume your activity.

Do you wish to resume your activity? As an employer, make sure that you comply with the health and safety obligations. Here are 6 recommendations to follow:

1.  Prior to resuming your activity, validate your resumption with the help of the sector sheets and guides issued by your branch of activity and by the Ministry of Labour.

  • advice sheet specific to your sector of activity published by the Ministry of Labour and relating the means of protection to be implemented in the face of the risk of contamination linked to COVID-19 ;

(downloadable from the Ministry's website: access)

  • guide to health safety recommendations and good practices in the face of the risk of contamination linked to COVID-19 published by the professional organisation of your Branch of activity.

2. Read the sheet or guide with your employees (in compliance with the rules of prevention and safety (barrier gestures...) and give them a copy against signature if possible.

3. It is imperative that you implement the recommendations of these sectorial sheets and guides in terms of prevention measures and protective equipment (individual or collective).

4. Make sure that you update your single occupational risk assessment document (DUERP), taking into account in particular the assessment of biological and pandemic risks.

5. If you have staff representatives: organise an extraordinary meeting of your social and economic committee to consult and inform them about the return-to-work plan and the means of action implemented.

6.  Issue a proof of professional travel for imperative reasons to all of your employees.
